Workshops hosted by MVJ in partnership with other organizations offer our members the opportunity to advance their learning in the field of journalism and make themselves more well-rounded. We are conducting workshops with organizations like the University of Mississippi.
We’ve secured spots in paid internship programs at major media outlets like NPR. We’re constantly working with the biggest names in journalism to create opportunities for veterans to get to work in newsrooms as interns or fellows.
Our 3oo+ members come from diverse backgrounds and have reported from all over the world. Our members get access to all the valuable online resources that our members and advisers have to offer on topics from how to find sources to how to pitch editors.
MVJ members have decades of combined journalism experience. From documentary journalism to broadcast, we have somebody in every domain of journalism. As a member, you’ll have access to our social media channels where you can connect directly with these members.
With dozens of veterans mentored to date, MVJ has had great success matching journalism industry professionals with new veterans entering the field for the first time. Our mentors come from all fields of journalism and are well-established professionals.
In non-pandemic times, we bring our members together in various locations for networking and educational opportunities. For now, we’re focusing on digital events, bringing together our veteran members from across the country for webinars on a range of topics.
