About the Speaker(s)
Press Manager, Common Defense
Clyde Gunter

Clyde Gunter, as a Press Manager, works to secure media coverage as part of the job, but says the real mission is making sure the voices of fellow veterans are uplifted and heard. Gunter enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he was 19 years old. He served five years on active duty, working in operations intelligence, planning and tactics. During his enlistment, he developed an interest in still photography, which eventually led him to both the Broadcast Journalism and Documentary Filmmaking programs at New York Film Academy. Gunter completed a 13-month paid, full-time Leadership, Exploration and Development Program at ESPN, where he had the opportunity to join the ESPN staff full time. He also worked to develop and produce a feature-length documentary, along with a limited television docuseries that centers on the racial bias and injustice American black veterans have faced, dating back to our country’s first fully integrated war with the Vietnam War. Gunter is a member of Military Veterans in Journalism, and serves as a braintrust member for The Black Veterans Project.
