Radio host and podcaster Phil Briggs got his start in journalism while serving in the Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). As a “plank owner,” on a new carrier, Phil was the editor of the ship’s newspaper, covering carrier life from the flight deck to below deck, ports of call, and always found ways to keep his shipmates entertained.
After the Navy, Phil made a name for himself in rock radio as a morning show host interviewing guests ranging from Aerosmith to ZZ Top. Heard on stations in Providence, Salt Lake City, and Washington DC.
In 2017 he joined ConnectingVets.com and CBS Radio as a reporter covering veteran issues like; toxic exposures, PTSD, VA, cannabis, veteran entrepreneurs and many other significant issues.
In 2019, wrote and co-produced the acclaimed podcast documentary To War and Back (Cadence 13), which explored the emotional story of three Iraq/Afghanistan combat veterans returning to civilian life.
In 2020 his weekly syndicated radio show CBS Eye on Veterans earned a “Best Podcast” award from the Associated Press.
Today he continues hosting CBS Eye on Veterans for ConnectingVets.com and being a veteran entrepreneur himself as the founder of Sunset Slush of Frederick County, Italian Ice trucks and the Sunset and Main Sweet Shop in New Market, Maryland.
He enjoys a busy life in Lake Linganore, Maryland with his wife Dana, daughter Emma and son Jack.
