Military Veterans in Journalism is proud to announce that military veteran journalist Caron Lenoir-Kelly will host a new season of our Sword & Pen podcast, slated to launch on Veterans Day.

Caron Lenoir-Kelly

Lenoir-Kelly is a longtime MVJ member, a journalist, producer, artist and advocate with more than 30 years of media experience. She is an Army and Navy veteran and the founder of CARONISMedia Group, CARONISM Audio Network and The Centre for Sensual Arts.

“I am thrilled to continue to honor our fellow veterans, shine a light on our lives and work as journalists as the new Sword & Pen host,” Lenoir-Kelly said. “Salute to MVJ and Lori King for their outstanding work. I am honored to move the podcast forward into its next chapter.”

The Sword & Pen podcast, launched in late 2019 with Army veteran Rich Dolan as host, is a once-monthly podcast that provides educational and career tips for military veterans interested in journalism. It was most recently helmed by Drew Lawrence and Lori King and features interviews with military veterans already in the field, journalism educators, and other supporters of increasing newsroom diversity through hiring and promoting veterans. Podcast guests share their stories, what they think veterans can bring to newsrooms, and their advice for those looking to get started as journalists and military veterans during each episode.

“When MVJ started in 2019, Sword & Pen was one of the first programs where we could spotlight vets in the news industry while providing advice to those who weren’t sure where to start,” said Russell Midori, who co-founded MVJ in 2019 and serves on its board of directors. “We are thrilled to have Caron bring her many years of podcasting experience into a new season of Sword & Pen.”

Sword & Pen can be found on all the major podcasting apps, including on Apple Podcasts and on Spotify.
