MVJ launches its Sword & Pen Podcast with the first episode hosted by Jonathan House and featuring journalist and documentarian Sebastian Junger.

MVJ secures the first internship for a member as part of NPR’s Summer 2020 Internship Program.

MVJ secures 10 seats for vets in journalism in NBC’s Producer Workshop in New York City.

MVJ partners with the University of Mississippi, FUJIFILM, and the Walton Family Foundation to plan a video journalism workshop.

MVJ sends 10 vets through NBC’s Producer Workshop and partners with NBC to create a hiring database.

MVJ hosts its first Virtual Job Fair with about 50 veterans and 20 employers attending.

MVJ secures a spot for a member in the Washington Post’s 2021 Internship Program.

MVJ partners with the Online News Association to send five members to the ONA annual conference at no cost.

MVJ is awarded a $250,000 Knight Foundation Grant for fellowships, events and organizational growth.

MVJ launches the Top 10 Military Veterans in Journalism to recognize military veteran journalists.


MVJ hosts its workshop on Video Journalism.


MVJ partners with the Associated Press to provide input on the military section of the AP Style Guide.


An MVJ member is selected for an internship at the Washington Post.

MVJ announces its Veterans Day event at the National Press Club, featuring appearances by Ron Nixon, Bob Woodward and MVJ-Texas Tribune fellow Allison Erickson.

Military Times hires two new reporters to cover disinformation and extremist narratives as part of the MVJ Counter-Disinformation Program.

MVJ secures a paid fellowship for a military veteran with NBC10 in Philadelphia, thanks to support from the Wyncote Foundation.

MVJ, INN and CUNY Newmark J-School's first fellow graduates from his Newmark J-School program. The fellow will start his fellowship with INN member City Limits in January 2024.
