Military Veterans in Journalism is pleased to invite you to attend our panel discussion about the role of veterans in the news media on Veterans Day (Nov. 11, 2022) at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. We would love for you to be a part of it.

This panel discussion will cover:

  • the role of and perception of veterans in the media
  • stereotypes and stigma when reporting on vets, given the military/civilian divide
  • lack of diversity in media, focusing on the deep under-representation of veterans in America’s newsroom
  • extremism in the military and the resulting evolving national narrative around veterans

MVJ will also use the occasion to launch the Military & Veteran Affairs Reporting Guide, which includes:

  • A cultural competency guide on reporting on complex military and veteran issues, with tips from MVJ members like you
  • Blogs with in depth reporting tips on issues like post-traumatic stress (PTS)
  • A showcase of veterans in media
  • An expert database of people to turn to with specific topics in military/veteran issues
