Join us for a webinar with author, journalist and MVJ member Marty Skovlund, Jr. ahead of the release of “Send Me: The True Story of a Mother at War”! “Send Me” tells the story of Navy special operator Shannon Kent, from her role as one of the first women to serve as a special operator to the personal struggles she faced balancing her military career with her roles as a wife and mother. During this webinar, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Skovlund around Shannon’s story and his tips for narrating stories of valor. About the Speaker

Marty Skovlund Jr. is the editor-in-chief of Task & Purpose. He is a veteran of the US Army and an experienced conflict reporter with assignments to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Ukraine in addition to embedding with the US military worldwide.
Over the course of eight years in uniform, he served as an Army Ranger in 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, including three deployments to Iraq and two to Afghanistan, and later as an Army Recruiter in the Syracuse Recruiting Battalion. He has co-hosted a TV show on the History Channel, won awards for independent filmmaking, and led multiple award-winning publications in both digital and print formats.
