April 28, 2022
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

This virtual course is taught by Bill Lord in partnership with MVJ, and will take place on April 28, 2022, at 6 PM EST. Bill Lord plans to provide participants with some simple Do and Don’t guidelines for job interviews. After interviewing hundreds of job applicants over the years, Bill has seen a lot, and he’ll join MVJ to provide real-life tips for those on the job hunt.

Bill Lord was an Infantry Sergeant in the 9th Infantry Division in 1967-68, including the Tet Offensive. He returned home and eventually found journalism at the University of Washington and later at Northwestern University. Bill started his career as an on camera reporter and then worked his way to Beirut for three years as the Middle East Correspondent for NBC News during the Lebanese Civil War.

Later, Bill shifted his efforts to news management and ran local newsrooms for nearly 35 years. He was the news director at WKRN in Nashville, KIRO-TV in Seattle, KNBC in Los Angeles and then at WJLA-TV in Washington, where he ultimately became General Manager.

When he retired, he wrote a book called “50 Years After Vietnam.” In the book, Bill explained how most of the management techniques he used over the years stemmed from observations he made as a draftee in the Army.
